We suggest to look for a hotel in the Riquier neighborhood, since it is close to both the Nice-Riquier train station and to the port, where the tram line L2 "Port Lympia - Aeroport" starts/ends its ride. This is a relatively cheap area and it will make your commute to the observatory much easier.
